Blackstone Smashed Spaghetti Tacos is inspired by the spaghetti tacos on iCarly that my kids loved, this recipe is a great griddle version!
EQUIPMENT
-
Blackstone Griddle
-
Flat Top Grill/ Griddle
INGREDIENTS
- 1/3 pound spaghetti or angel hair pasta
- 1 24 ounce jar marinara pasta sauce warm
- kosher salt, pepper
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 pound ground Italian sausage
- butter or cooking oil of choice
- 6 soft taco size soft flour tortillas
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Optional: parmesan cheese, crushed red pepper flakes, and/or parsley for garnish
INSTRUCTIONS
-
Boil the pasta according to package directions in salted water, drain and toss together with 1 cup of the marinara sauce, kosher salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.
-
Roll the Italian sausage into 6 balls. Set them on a tray with the cheese, pasta, remaining pasta sauce, and tortillas. Bring everything out to the griddle.
-
Preheat the griddle to medium heat for several minutes. Add some butter or cooking oil and place the balls of Italian sausage, spaced apart. Place a soft tortilla over each, use a burger press or heavy, flat object (I used a small cast iron skillet), to press the tortilla down, flattening the sausage underneath.
-
Cook 2 to 3 minutes, flip them over and add the mozzarella cheese, spaghetti in sauce, and a little more marinara sauce over each. Add optional toppings such as parmesan cheese, crushed red pepper flakes, and/or parsley.
Note: Once you add the toppings, you can turn the griddle off as you wait for the cheese to melt.
-
Remove when tortilla is crisped how you prefer.
